It was a really good week to be Andrew Lanham.

Earlier this week, the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship announced Lanham as one of its five fellowship winners. His script The Jumper of Maine beat out more than 6,000 other hopefuls to win the $30,000 prize, the first installment of which will be handed out at an awards ceremony on Nov. 4 at the Beverley Wilshire. (Interesting sidenote: Screenwriter Michael Arndt [Toy Story 3] will deliver the keynote address at the event; you’re probably not invited to that, but if you hurry and are in possession of a badge, you can catch Arndt’s panel “Endings: The Good, the Bad, and the Insanely Great” at AFF at 1:15pm today.)

And the good news just keeps on coming for Lanham, an MFA candidate at UT’s RTF department: The Jumper of Maine also won Best Drama Screenplay at the Austin Film Festival, as well as the Latitude Productions Screenplay Award, which is sponsored by the L.A.-based production company.

Lanham’s script is about “a paramedic with Tourette’s Syndrome [who] becomes involved with a young mother and daughter who have ties to his tragic past.”
