John Lasseter, surrounded by the fruits of his labor

John Lasseter, the creative force behind Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Cars, and its summer sequel (out June 24) will receive the Extraordinary Contribution to Filmmaking award at this fall’s Austin Film Festival.

Lasseter joins previously announced scribe honorees Hart Hanson (Bones) and Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands). All three will be fêted at the annual Award Luncheon, held this year on Oct. 22 at the Austin Club.
