Happy Valentine’s Day to Hart Hanson, the producer and show runner of Bones. The Austin Film Festival just announced that he is the recipient of the 2011 Outstanding Television Writer Award to be handed out at this year’s festival.
Now in it’s sixth season, Bones tells the story of an scientifically-driven forensic anthropologist (Emily Deschanel) and her FBI cohort and could-be love interest (David Boreanaz), working to solve crimes in a high tech lab with a crew of quirky co-workers.
Prior to working on Bones, Hanson was a successful writer working in Canadian TV. Since moving to the States, he extended his already long resume to include stints with Joan of Arcadia, Judging Amy, Snoops, Cupid, Stargate SG-1 , and The Outer Limits.
A Conversation with Hart Hanson is among the many events that feature Hanson during the festival. Others include a special screening of Bones with Hanson, Deschanel, and Boreanaz in attendance. Boreanaz will also be on hand to present Hanson with his award at the awards luncheon.
Hanson joins an esteemed list of AFF Outstanding Television Writer Award recipients, including: David Simon, The Wire; Mitchell Hurwitz, Arrested Development; Greg Daniels, The Office; David Milch, Deadwood; Garry Shandling, The Larry Sanders Show; David Chase, The Sopranos; Tom Fontana, OZ; Darren Star, Sex and the City; and Mike Judge, King of the Hill.
