Tracking down Jack Rebney, that reluctant viral video hero, became something of a passion project for filmmaker Ben Steinbauer, who years ago first saw the infamous leaked outtakes of Rebney’s foul-mouthed meltdown on a Winnebago video shoot and has been obsessed ever since. Funny thing about passion projects, though: They don’t pay for themselves.
That’s where you come in. Team Winnebago Man is holding a fundraising screening tomorrow night (Oct. 27) in support of a future theatrical run for their award-winning doc. There are lots of reasons you should attend the sneak screening – the party-like atmosphere, the opportunity to hear the so-called Angriest Man Alive speak (via phone), the chance to help a local production do good. But honestly, the most compelling reason we can think of? It’s a terrific movie – funny and searching and ultimately quite moving.
The Winnebago Man Sneak Preview Fundraising Screening takes place Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the Monarch Events Center in the Lincoln Village Shopping Center. Doors open at 7pm; film screens at 8pm. Advance tickets are available here (minimum donation is $10). There’s a good chance this thing will sell out, so move on it.
