A converted courthouse with links to Giant goes on the auction block.
A 1962 Dallas Morning News article recounted the movie folks from Texas classic Giant stopping off at the historic Stonewall Courthouse in the ghost town of Rayner in West Texas. The location scouts seemed to be impressed by the uniqueness of a courthouse converted into living quarters.
The homeowners never heard from the Giant people again, but the film’s iconic ranch house (constructed for the shoot in Marfa, Texas) bears some resemblance to the Stonewall Courthouse.
The auction takes place Tuesday, Oct. 5, but a website run by the houses current owners is advertising the house and the 840 acres it stands on for sale right now. Cash only.
