Subbing for vacationing Jeff Ward, Don Zimmerman joined KLBJ conservative talk show host Ed Clements on Monday to break down some politics. The outgoing CM bashed federal bureaucracies like the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (see “Quote of the Week”) and expressed confusion about the “obsession” to legalize marijuana before casting extended paid maternity leave as a corporate burden. Zimmerman also went on an anti-LGBTQ rant that propagated the notion that homosexuality is a behavior tied to “spiritual issues,” rather than genetics. “It’s a lot easier to sit in here than on the City Council dais,” Zim said. Monday marked his third time on the loud-mouthed radio station in four weeks, and first of two trips this week. (He skipped out on Council’s meeting on the Grove to talk on the radio Tuesday.) Is Zim readying a post-politics gig? One source familiar with station operations suggests some form of job training is underway. KLBJ program director Mark Caesar did not respond to questions.
