We know what you’re thinking: There hasn’t been a good Will Wynn photo-op in a minute. No revealing kimonos or zombie mayors – nothing.
He must have been feeling the same way – but no more. Monday, he’s slated to leap off a dock into Town Lake, à la his 2005 jump from a bridge to promote an indie movie called – what else? – Jumping Off Bridges. (Wonder if our eligible, single mayor knows the alternate definition of “jump off.”)
Kids, be like the mayor, and jump into Town Lake:
AUSTIN, TX — Mayor Will Wynn, RunTex Owner Paul Carrozza, and Meals on Wheels and More CEO Dan Pruett will make a splash for the 17th Annual CapTexTri by jumping in Town Lake this Monday morning at 8am.
Though this event hit a permitting snafu last year, the City Council gave the trio the go-ahead on Thursday, clearing them for landing in the lake.
“We promise not to disappoint this year,” said Pruett. “The three of us are guaranteed to get soaking wet.”
CapTexTri, Austin’s Olympic-qualifying triathlon, will be held on Memorial Day Weekend, May 27th and 28th, this year, and proceeds will benefit MOWAM and its mission of providing nutritious meals to the homebound elderly and disabled in Austin.
Wynn, Carrozza, and Pruett will leap off of the dock near the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue at Auditorium Shores and be available for interviews. The purpose of the kickoff is to tell people it’s time to register for the race and spread the word that MOWAM needs volunteers to help with Race Day.
