The Humane Society of Williamson County is partnering with the Human Society of Uvalde to take in, care for, and place into adoption more than 200 animals rescued from the Uvalde Animal Shelter, which has been shut down by a county court for neglect and abuse of the animals in its care.

A video of conditions at the shelter – including images of decomposing animals and animals in cages with bones of the dead never removed, and covered in parasites – prompted the action to close the shelter.

The HSU removed more than 200 animals, and has partnered with the HS of WilCo to help care for them. The Humane Society of WilCo has taken in 30 dogs, many of whom are heartworm positive and are suffering with other medical ailments. The dogs will be available for adoption as soon as they’re well, and the shelter is asking for donations to help get them there.
