Next June in Copenhagen, the European Cyclists Federation is holding Velo-City Global, 2010. Veteran urban-cycling experts from cities all over the world will gather at the first global conference, to share knowledge and experience. Austin should be there! The focus: How investments in cycling programs and infrastructure pay off …
… for cities, governments, public health, the flow of traffic, the environment and the climate.
In a quick note via e-mail yesterday, city of Austin bicycling coordinator Annick Beaudet said shes already thinking about a Velo-City Global presentation on Austin and Texas and would love the opportunity to learn from experts in other cities around the world as well. Mayor Lee Leffingwell sent a note as well, remembering how was struck by the volume of bicycles in Copenhagen himself, during his years abroad. (He lived in France, don’t you know.)
