The National Wildlife Federation has honored University of Texas professor Camille Parmesan with its National Conservation Achievement Award “for exemplary leadership in protecting the environment and natural resources.” Parmesan specializes in researching how climate change is causing many species to begin mating earlier or shift their habitat range – the latter of which could render pointless attempts to create wildlife preserves and can result in the extinction of species already living at high elevations, since they can’t move any higher.
