The Austin Police Department has launched a new online tool allowing city residents to file electronic reports related to nonviolent crimes – including burglary and cases of telephone or electronic harassment. The new program, Coplogic, is a secure, Web-based system that the city hopes will help residents file complete and timely reports that might otherwise be relayed by phone through the 311 system. In 2010, APD processed more than 58,000 such reports. Once filed, the reports are reviewed by APD and follow-up information can be gathered if necessary. To use the system, go to www.apdonlinereporting.com.
