Sorry folks, you’re still not done with the March primaries: a few races weren’t quite settled and the run-offs are today.
Democrats around the state must select a candidate for railroad commissioner, choosing between Dale Henry and Mark Thompson, and here in Travis County, they must close the deal on district attorney (Mindy Montford vs. Rosemary Lehmberg) and if you live in east and northeast Travis, Precinct 1 constable (Danny Thomas vs. Janie Serna).
In the case of the DA and constable races, voters likely will completely close the deal, because there will be no Republican or Libertarian opposition on the November ballot, although it’s possible that an independent or third-party candidate could file by August 26.
Up in Williamson County, Republicans must finish choosing a candidate for House District 52 (Bryan Daniel vs. Dee Hobbs). The winner will face Democrat Diana Maldonado in November.
Polls are open 7am-7pm. Voters must vote in the precinct in which they are registered (Travis County polling places are here, Williamson voting locations are here). If you are uncertain of your precinct, you can find it on your voter registration card, or look up your registration online (Travis County residents should go here, Williamson residents go here.)
