Rodney Reed has been appealing his verdict and sentence for more than 20 years, never wavering in his insistence that he is innocent of the crime that put him on death row.

Despite new evidence that could potentially exonerate him, and a tsunami of supporters from Beyoncé to Ted Cruz calling on Gov. Abbott to halt the scheduled Nov. 20 execution, Reed’s days, it appears, are numbered.

The Rodney Reed case is the subject of this week’s Austin Chronicle cover story by Brant Bingamon, and also the topic of today’s The Austin Chronicle Show on KOOP 91.7 FM, where Bingamon was joined by Chronicle News Editor Mike Clark-Madison and Associate News Editor Sarah Marloff.
