With the weather warming up, it’s time to get out on your bicycle and participate in events spotlighting and promoting cycling in Austin. The annual Austin Bike Summit aims to bridge the gaps “between Austin’s various bicycle endeavors, movements, and efforts” while providing “new volunteers with avenues for involvement.” The free event kicks off at 8:30am, Saturday, April 16, at Pine Street Station, 1101 E. Fifth, with breakfast followed by presentations, a ride, workshops, and a 6-10pm social time. (See www.austinbikesummit.org for more info.) Consider the summit your warm-up for Bike Month Austin in May, which will feature the usual breakfast and happy hour stations, rides, music, and other activities all month long.
