Sure, city politics can be an animal house, but this is ridiculous: Just in time for the holidays, adoption fees for bringing home a pet this holiday season have been neutered.
From our furry friends at the city:
The Austin Humane Society and Austin Animal Center are partnering together in a Home for the Holidays Adoption Campaign.
Home for the Holidays adoption fees are: $20 for dogs, $20 for cats and kittens (and 2 for $20 too!), puppy prices vary. All cats and dogs over the age of 5 years have waived adoption fees. Home for the Holidays adoption pricing continues through Jan. 8, 2012.
All of the shelters and rescues in our area are full right now, says Abigail Smith, Chief Animal Services Officer at the Austin Animal Center. We want anyone considering adding a furry family member this holiday season to make adopting from a shelter their FIRST choice. We have far too many wonderful pets who are homeless in our community right now, and we want to give them the gift of a caring forever home.
It’s been a momentous year for animal efforts at the city, even if there’s been some bumps along the way. But what better way to ring in the new year than with a new friend?
