The Hust flies the coop

A point of personal privilege, if I may: this election day is a slightly bittersweet one, for while it looks to be momentous and historic, it also brings this season of Hail to the Hustle to an end.

When Hustle co-creator Mike B and I decided to shoot and produce episodes each week in October and an election special, there was a welter of conflicting emotions: eagerness and excitement at the challenge, plus uncertainty at whether the whole pursuit would be worthwhile. But here we are, five episodes, 50 minutes, and thousands of views later, and – without tooting our own horn too much – we consider the endeavor a success. Plus, we even made a little news ourselves, when John Cornyn decided to appropriate our footage without permission (a situation which, sadly, still has seen no resolution).

Anyway, time for a few thank-yous: Everyone who appeared on the Hustle, first and foremost, is owed a debt of gratitude. Closer to home, we have to thank the Chronicle crew that helped the Hust with their graphic and web expertise. A huge thank you goes to Angel Schatz, who animated the incredible opening in every episode. And most importantly, thanks to you, the viewers, the people we made these episodes for.

Hail to the Hustle’s final episode will be up early, Wednesday morning, following the election.
