I wanted to see what a campaign looks like on that last night before the election, and I wanted one that was buzzing. I figured I couldn’t do better than that of Larry Joe Doherty over on Far West Boulevard, where they are desperately rushing to close that little bit of gap remaining in the Democrat’s bid to unseat incumbent Republican Congressman Michael McCaul in District 10.
“It’s exciting,” said Doherty spokesman Jon Niven. “It’s gonna be really invigorating to see all the volunteers, to see all the results coming in, to hear all the good, positive feedback that we’re getting from everybody on the street.”
Asked whether the latest poll, which showed Doherty four points behind McCaul (within the margin of error), made him nervous, Niven said quite the opposite – pointing out that the gap had closed from nine points back in May.
“We’re moving in the right direction,” Niven said. “Our whole goal is to peak on Nov. 4. I feel we’ve put ourselves in that position by the volunteers, the fundraising, and the communication.”
