David Hall has a new job. The former Giddings police officer and longtime friend of Jimmy Fennell Jr., whose DNA was alleged to have been found on one of the empty beer cans left near the body of Fennell’s then-fiancée Stacey Stites when she was found murdered along a Bastrop road in 1988 (those who believe Rodney Reed did not kill Stites largely believe Fennell orchestrated the murder), was elected last week to serve as Precinct 1 Commissioner for Calhoun County, taking home 63% of the vote. Hall most recently worked as a sergeant in the investigation division for the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
