Urban-design and transportation mavens (that means most of you, right?) will want to tune in to KLRU-2 (Time Warner Channel 20) at 8pm Saturday, Oct. 9, to watch Streets Without Cars: The Urban Experiment of State Street. Said great street, in Madison, Wis., is perhaps the most successful survivor of the postwar trend of turning downtown streets into pedestrian malls, but naturally civic boosters (even in Madison) can’t leave well enough alone. More info on the documentary, co-produced and directed by Austinite Troy Lanier, can be found at www.streetswithoutcars.com.
