There’s no doubt that the state of Texas is facing a pretty significant budget shortfall. But what do voters think are the best bets to raise revenue? Hint: toke ’em if you got ’em!
That’s right, according to the most recent Texas Lyceum Poll, 14% of voters thought legalizing and taxing pot sales would be the best way to raise revenue for the state. Another 16% picked it as their second best choice for raising funds. The most popular choice (34%) is to legalize and tax gambling at casinos.
Of course there were other more disturbing findings like that voters here believe illegal immigration is the most pressing issue for the state, and that some 55% would favor passage of an Arizona-style immigration law.
Maybe these folks should smoke more pot.
