Here’s a political twofer you won’t want to miss. On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the Travis County Democratic Party will host a farewell bash in honor of retiring district judges Jeanne Meurer and Margaret Cooper, who over a combined 40 years have presided over some of Austin’s most illustrious court cases. A handful of local law offices – from white-shoe firms to scuffed-shoe – are throwing down money to help pay for the shindig, but you’ll be asked to do your part for this Democratic fundraiser, too. Tickets are $100 for the event, which starts at 5:30pm in the Kodosky Donor Lounge at the Long Center. Next up is the presidential debate watch party at 8pm in the Long’s main hall. Admission is free (with a $5 suggested donation). RSVP for the watch party at www.turntexasblue.com. Questions on either event? Call county Democratic headquarters, 477-7500.
