It may not be a rock concert, but one of the hottest tours in Texas will include a definite rock star. With the help of Sen. Wendy Davis, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund kicked off a statewide Stand With Texas Women Bus Tour this morning for those who cannot make it to the Capitol.
Tour organizers are using the road trip to highlight not only the threat to reproductive rights, but also the effects clinic closures would have on whole women’s health. The more high profile speakers will be joined by medical professionals and uninsured women who rely on Planned Parenthood for medical care.
The first stop will be at 6pm tonight at the Anheuser-Busch Stage in Houston with Davis and Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Cecile Richards headlining. More details and further dates will be announced on the Stand with Texas Women Facebook page.
Before hitting the road, however, the bus will take one small detour. From 11-1pm today, Richards will be leading a voter registration drive in front of the Jamba Juice at 2300 Guadalupe. Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars are encouraged to help.
