Rooster Credit: APD

Austin Police report that veteran K-9 sniffing dog Rooster passed away Nov. 20, after a two-year battle with heart disease. He was 13.

Rooster worked for APD for 12 years and is credited with “seizing” more than $2.5 million in U.S. currency and drugs worth more than $557,000, APD’s public information office reports.

Rooster will be “deeply missed” by his handler, Det. Russell Overheau, and the entire APD family.
