Texas Democratic Party Chairman Boyd Richie roused the Texas Young Democrats caucus meeting at the TDP state convention this morning. An quick excerpt:
This race for president, this race for state senate, for the United States Senate, for party chair this is not about any of us. It is about you. Folks, when you look around and understand what the Republicans are doing when Republicans are out there and their only issue coming back into this next legislative session is worrying about voter ID bills, it makes me sick to my stomach. Because I want to tell you something: It is a sin and a shame that we have children in this state who cannot go access to health care. It is a sin and a shame that weve got families working at two and three jobs who cannot afford to send their kids to college because tuition has gone up 122% since it was deregulated. It is a sin and a shame that were paying $4 a gallon for gasoline and $5 a gallon for diesel for folks to try to fill up their car to get to a minimum wage job that has no benefits. It is a sin and a shame that all of you all are going to paying for a damnable war that never should have been started in the first place.
