Today (Friday) marks the fifth anniversary of the death of Ortralla Mosley, the 15-year-old Reagan High School student who was stabbed to death on campus by her ex-boyfriend, 16-year-old Marcus McTear. (McTear is now in adult prison, serving out a 40-year sentence.)
Mosley’s mother, Carolyn, has carried on the memory of her youngest daughter by starting the Ortralla LuWone Mosley Foundation, Inc., which is dedicated to raising awareness about about teen-dating violence and to providing assistance to adolescents who are victims to dating abuse.
A memorial for Ortralla and foundation fundraiser is scheduled for tomorrow, March 29, from 11am to 2pm at Promise Land Church, at 1504 E. 51st Street. Travis Co. Sheriff Greg Hamilton, State Rep. Dawanna Dukes, and former State Rep. Wilhelmina Delco are expected to speak at the event.
