Travis County just updated the vote totals, and it looks like incumbent Republican Gerald Daugherty may manage to hold Karen Huber under 50%, but it looks unlikely that he can hold onto his office.

With 59 of 64 precincts reporting, Huber has 48.6%, Daugherty 46.3%. Those final five boxes won’t give him the more than 3,000-vote swing he’d need to catch up. Wes Benedict probably did Daugherty in: The Libertarian currently has the other 5%.

UPDATE: Karen Huber has defeated Gerald Daugherty in a very tight race. The final total was Huber 67,679 (48.5%), Daugherty 64,693 (46.4%), Benedict 7,088 (5.1%).

Huber had better start amassing her re-election war chest now. With those kinds of totals, a Republican will surely challenge her in four years.
