Early voting totals just came in on the Austin City Council Place 4 race: Laura Morrison leads with 60% of the vote over Cid Galindo. Morrison has 6,064 votes to Galindo’s 4,010.

Depending on today’s turnout, it is possible Galindo could come back, but highly unlikely. I’ve certainly never seen anyone come back from 20 points down after early voting. I suspect the champagne corks are popping right now at Morrison’s victory party.

Nonetheless, come back to Newsdesk later tonight for updated totals and comments from both candidates.

UPDATE: Not sure where the first few boxes counted came from, but it doesn’t look good for Galindo: Of the 13% of the Election Day vote counted thus far, Morrison has taken 75%, thus widening her lead over Galindo.
