Capital Metro’s new MetroRail commuter train will be delayed yet again.

Last Friday, Cap Metro reported that the Federal Railroad Administration and the Texas Department of Transportation charged that two supervisors with labor subcontractor Veolia operating MetroRail trains entered a section of track without prior authorization during system testing.

That persuaded Cap Metro to push back the March 30 launch date to allow more training time and “help ensure all components of the system are ready.” A new start date has not yet been announced, but the transit agency still plans to hold kick-off celebrations on March 28. The launch of the Leander-to-Downtown train is already about a year behind schedule.
