It’s no secret that abortion rights and adequate health care for women have long been under siege by Texas lawmakers. The ongoing crisis is both dispiriting and dismally repetitive. But Austin Chronicle news editor Mary Tuma has never wavered in her attention to the reproductive rights beat.

And that’s why we’re so cheered by the Lilith Fund’s support of her ongoing journalistic work, which has previously been acknowledged by the Houston Press Club Lone Star Awards in 2014 and the Association of Alternative News Media in 2015. In advance of the Austin Reproductive Equity Awards this Wednesday, Oct. 7, which will honor both Tuma and Sen.
