The latest Republican campaign against the current White House occupant: A new bumper sticker reading, “Obama Lied. The Economy Died.”

Obviously, this is intended to be a response to the popular anti-Bush sticker, “Nobody died when Clinton lied.” Of course, it’s historical revisionism – the economy’s pulse flatlined during Bush’s reign, and Obama inherited the unpleasant task of performing CPR.

More than that, though, it’s just plain offensive. Bush’s lies resulted in real deaths – 4,000 soldiers that came home from Iraq in body bags.

Seriously, GOP – is this what you want to use as your talking point? Economies that “die” can eventually come back to life. Those troops won’t.
