Third Court of Appeals Judge Jan Patterson says that charges filed against her with the State Commission on Judicial Conduct by former Austin State Rep. Glen Maxey are without merit. Maxey filed a complaint with the commission last week arguing that Patterson had violated two canons of judicial conduct, including misrepresenting facts about herself, when she told the Chronicle in October that Gov. Rick Perry pursued her to fill the Travis County civil court seat made vacant by the untimely death of Judge Scott Ozmun. Patterson said Perry’s office came to her several times, imploring her to run; Perry’s office said Patterson came to them. Still, Patterson said Dec. 8 that there is nothing to Maxey’s allegations, “even assuming the facts [of his complaint] are true,” she said. “So we’ll wait for the commission.”
