The pre-program for the debate, which I assume you at home can’t see, is underway. First we got treated to the UT band doing the UT fight song, then the UT choral singers did the national anthem. Now Texas Democratic Chairman Boyd Richie is up on stage bragging about the advances the party has made in recent years, including carving mightily into the Republicans’ Texas House majority (the Dems are now only five seats away from taking control) and sweeping all the elected offices in Dallas County.

Chronicle reporter Jordan Smith just called and said she’s walking down Trinity and the motorcade carrying the candidates zipped past her.
