A

Decimating city boards and commissions with a click of the mouse, the Chronicle‘s Icon or Eyesore?” contest has blown the doors off the debate over what constitutes an “iconic” establishment. But, like the ill-fated notion of defining “iconic preservation” via city commissions, we’re nearing the end of the line. To win a grab bag of old Austin history, submit the most iconic establishment to austinchronicle.com/icon by Nov. 30. Rate the “icons,” enter your own nominees (where’s Tamale House?), and leave comments. Speaking of which – can you match these comments with their pictures? Get going, the contest ends next week!

C

1) Nice building. When they gonna finish it?

B

2) Mow this down and build up five stories – I cannot believe the Starbucks next door is only one story tall!

A

3) Too bad Dubya didn’t fall off the balcony drunk and save the world a whole lot of trouble.

ANSWERS: 1C, 2B, 3A. Aren’t you smart!
