� Election watch parties: Travis County Democrats and their candidates will hunker down Tuesday at the Driskill Hotel, 604 Brazos, while state Republicans will gather at an exotic game ranch in Buda. Both groups will get their respective parties started at 7pm.
� Are Democrats worried about Congressman Lloyd Doggett‘s job security? “If we wake up on November 3rd and Congressman Doggett hasn’t had the margin he needs in Travis County, we’re all going to be sick,” Austin state Sen. Kirk Watson said in a speech Tuesday imploring Dems to vote early.
� Gov. Rick Perry last week took a defensive stance over his false claims that Democratic challenger Bill White ran the city of Houston as a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants. When the Texas Tribune’s Evan Smith challenged him that there was no real difference between Houston’s and the state’s enforcement policies, Perry retorted that Smith was “walking off onto some pretty thin ice.”
� Is Republican Railroad Commission hopeful David Porter really a political novice? Texans for Public Justice reports that he’s actually the treasurer of a political action committee funded by GOP sugar daddy and school voucher zealot James Leininger.
� The Virginia-based Republican State Leadership Committee PAC has donated $500,000 to the Associated Republicans of Texas PAC, which is dedicated to removing Democratic incumbents from the Legislature. The biggest single donor to the Virginia PAC? Karl Rove‘s American Crossroads.
