Dist. 25 Congressman Lloyd Doggett, D-Austin, easily won reelection Tuesday night, and said he’s looking forward to the end of Republican rule:

“Because Bush has dug this country into so many deep and dangerous holes, millions of voters decided to oust a lot of those who kept handing him another shovel. After 14 years of representing various parts of Texas, near and not so near, I will finally be a freshman in Washington – my first year with a Democratic Congress and a Democratic President. Finally, we will have the reinforcements needed to begin replacing the failed policies of the last eight years.

“The outrageous attacks that we saw aimed at Obama are not going to stop now. As we work to enact real change, its enemies will only become louder. But we will be ready in bigger numbers to provide better answers for a better America.”
