Damontae Frederick, 10, enjoys goodies provided by Austin Police Department members who, with Travis County law enforcement officials, joined East Austin neighbors for a community walk near East 12th and Chicon Streets on May 4. The march was designed to rally neighbors to support change at and around the infamous corner that has for years served as a hub for drug dealing and related street crime. It was part of the Drug Market Intervention program that local law enforcers have been working on since last summer. See austinchronicle.com/newsdesk for updates.
