So you can’t get that red-eye east (waaaaaaay east) and partake in the live spectacle that is World Cup soccer. Too bad. Half the fun is beating the crap out of the opposing team’s fans. Or so they say. Hmmmmm, there must be some more practical options close to home. Why not join an Austin gang of real footballers at a local watering hole for some big-screen fun? Some of these fine establishments will be running TV broadcasts of the games live as they happen; others will carry the re-runs at sane hours. In any case, it’s probably a good hunch that state liquor laws will apply, no matter the time, and that it’s a good idea to call ahead to each individual venue for an exact schedule.
