Austin-based photographer Jana Birchum, a longtime staff shutterbug for the Chronicle, has been honored with an invitation to join the Novus Select photography agency, an elite group that provides assignment services for major news and editorial outlets around the world. Birchum’s first job with Novus Select was a two-part assignment last year for German publication Der Spiegel; the subject was UT student Cody Wilson (pictured), who gained international attention as the first person to create a working 3-D gun.
