The city’s Public Works Department has announced that it will present its final recommendation for the Downtown Bicycle Boulevard project on Tuesday, April 6, on the city of Austin’s website. Various options are being studied for making either Nueces or Rio Grande street more bike-friendly.
The city has also commissioned Angelo Economics to perform an economic impact analysis of whatever plan gets selected, to be completed by April 20. Beginning April 13, the project should start wending its way through the city’s boards and commissions process, and is due for a City Council briefing on May 13.
The dates on which various boards and commissions are due to examine the plan:
• April 13 – Urban Transportation Commission, Briefing of Staff Recommendation
• April 21 – Downtown Commission, Briefing and Possible Action on Staff Recommendation and Economic Study
• April 26 – Design Commission, Briefing and Possible Action on Staff Recommendation and Economic Study
• April 27 – Planning Commission, Briefing and Possible Action on Staff Recommendation and Economic Study
• May 11 – Urban Transportation Commission, Briefing and Possible Action on Staff Recommendation and Economic Study
• May 13 – City Council Briefing
