The Austin Chronicle’s staff blog was recognized today as a finalist in the Association of Alternative Newsmedia annual awards competition. Fellow alt-weeklies Cleveland Scene and Creative Loafing Atlanta were also named finalists in the staff blog category.

Five posts from 2014 were submitted to the judging committee, which was drawn from the Georgetown University Master’s in Professional Studies Program in Journalism. They included:

“Elegy for an Invisible Hipster” by Chase Hoffberger

“Undercover Audio Reveals Anti-Abortion Tactics” by Mary Tuma

“The Culture Wars Come to Austin” by Brandon Watson
