As the world’s eyes turn to Dubai for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), Austin-based Texas Impact/Texas Interfaith Power & Light is sending video dispatches from the conference to the Chronicle.

The Paris Agreement establishes a process for the global community to collaborate toward the goal of keeping global average temperatures from warming more than 1.5 degrees Celsius by the end of the century. The core of the process is a set of Nationally Determined Contributions, or NDCs, which represent each country’s commitment to reduce its emissions. The first set of NDCs was made five years ago … and now it’s time to check our work and make necessary course corrections through a collective show-and-tell called the Global Stocktake. Becca Edwards introduces the Global Stocktake, and explains how it differs from the bicameral legislative process.

About Texas Impact
Texas Impact exists to put faith into action. We equip faith leaders and their congregations with the information, opportunities, and outreach tools to educate their communities and engage with lawmakers on pressing public policy issues. We are an interfaith group that works together on issues that impact the most vulnerable people in our communities. We help people live out their faith in the public square, moving the faith community from charity to justice.
