Al Edwards is about to take back the House Dist. 146 seat that he lost to Borris Miles two years back in 2006. Apparently Miles’ many shenanigans, including showing up uninvited to a party and waving a gun, and taking it upon himself to take down artwork on display in the Capitol that he found offensive, was too much for Houstonians to take. Edwards currently leads 62% to 38% with only one precinct yet to be counted.

The Too Close to Craddick Scorecard: 1-2, maybe
Dems targeted three of their own that they felt were too close to Republican House Speaker Tom Craddick, whom they (and many Republicans) badly want to unseat. They’re getting mixed results. Dist. 140 incumbent Kevin Bailey will go down in defeat to Armando Lucio Walle – he’s losing 47%-53% with only one precinct left. But in Dist. 46 here in Austin, incumbent Dawnna Dukes is crushing young upstart Brian Thompson with 61% of the vote (18 of 24 counted).

The close race, sort of, is Dist. 36: Kino Flores is currently holding off Sandra Rodriguez with 52% of the vote, but with only two-thirds of the precincts counted, I suppose it’s at least theoretically possible she could pull it out.
