As of 5pm Monday, March 9, the ballot was set for the May general election. Voters will select from five mayoral candidates and elect City Council members in four other races. There were some late-filing surprises: Enigmatic mayoral candidate Jason Morales apparently decided at the last minute to run for Place 1 instead, but, as Place 1 is a special election to fill Lee Leffingwell‘s unexpired seat, the filing had closed earlier, locking Morales out. However, self-described real estate investor David A. Buttross was a late-breaking mayoral filer. Place 2 Council Member Mike Martinez also drew a challenger at the deadline: Jose Quintero Sr., a self-described sales representative.
