Florence’s Comfort House – the nonprofit Montopolis neighborhood welcome house, playground, and DIY charitable effort founded and sustained by Florence Ponziano – recently won a fundraising event and party sponsored by Thumbtack (www.thumbtack.com), an “online service that connects people with skilled local professionals to get their projects done.” The event next Saturday, Aug. 6, will include live music by the Motts, entertainment for kids, and a silent auction. The proceeds will benefit the Comfort House and the East Austin community. It’s 10am-1pm at Florence’s Comfort House, 515 Kemp St. It’s “invitation-only” – expect local officials and supporters to be on hand. Folks interested in attending should contact Kristen James at Pierpont Communications, kjames@piercom.com. See more info at www.florencescomforthouse.org.
