Two months ago, longtime local rapper “Young Nick” Baynard suffered a seizure that cut off movement along the left side of his body. Rushed to St. David’s, doctors found a rare brain fungus the size of a golf ball behind his right eye and gave the MC two weeks to live.

His recovery has since been remarkable, but Nick’s still facing a pile of medical bills stacked higher than his rap notepads. A benefit next week, Wednesday, Nov. 23 – the night kicking off Thanksgiving weekend – comes via Nick’s Dirty Politics Entertainment, and features performances first and foremost by the evening’s beneficiary.

Arson Optics, Kazanova, and Weighted Keyz, all for a lowball $5 that includes grub, attempt to undercut at least a few of those costs as well. 9pm at Loft 718, aka 718 Congress.
