Local hip-hop/soul tandem God-Des & She crowd-sourced a tribute video to commemorate yesterday’s historic repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the government’s 18-year policy regarding gay personnel serving in the military.
Through a collage of submitted photos and quotes, the video puts an inspiring face – and gives voice to – those in the armed sources directly affected, to the tune of the duo’s “Stand Up” from 2007.

Local math-punk outfit filmed a summer house party-turned-demolition derby for “Not Stoked,” the latest single from this year’s Noble Ancestry. Keyboardist/guitarist Ross Bennett gave us the drop.
“To provide a little back story, every member of the band lived in that apartment complex for at least a year. Total, the members of the band lived, and hung out at the Balcones apartment complex for a little over three years. When the residents of Balcones found out that the property had been sold, and all residents would be evicted on Sept. 1, 2011, the members of Zlam Dunk saw no other choice but to destroy the place they had shared so many memories.”
