Black Joe Lewis certainly dressed for the occasion of his network television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman Monday night, decked out in what appears to be a custom-embroidered leather suit. The local soul shouter led the Honeybears through “Livin’ in the Jungle,” with show bandleader Paul Shaffer adding some additional organ.

To commemorate the occasion, Lewis & Co. dropped a new mixtape, Livin’ in the City, which re-imagines the band’s latest LP Scandalous through the dancehall grime and Mad Decent filter of Derek “DJA” Allen, with mash-up cameos from Bun B, Yelawolf, and even President Obama. Download the mix here.

White Denim, “Street Joy”
The standout slow jam from White Denim’s latest would make for an awkward last dance at any senior prom (at least next to Benny Mardones’ comparable “Into the Night”), but it seems oddly appropriate for this VHS-era throwback, directed by Birds on Fire’s Carlos LaRotta.

More hilarity can be found in Waterloo Records’ “Record Store Olympics Event 3: The Decipher,” wherein the store’s full-time employees attempt to decipher cryptic metal logos, with varying degrees of difficulties.
