There’s no telling where Alan Palomo rests his head these days – if the one-time local ‘glo-fi’ dude does in fact sleep – but Neon Indian’s “Mind, Drip” video’s notable for its other Austin tie: Lars Larsen.

An electronic designer that’s part of the circuit breaker crew at Switched On, Larsen co-developed the “LZX Visionary,” an analog video synthesizer that makes its debut here.
Experience Hendrix “Fire”
As mentioned in this week’s Off the Record, Double Trouble’s Chris Layton joined Jonny Lang, Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, and Billy Cox for a rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s classic “Fire” on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Layton’s looks great in his throwback neckerchief, but personally OTR finds this sort of guitar heroism absurdly funny. For starters, there’s a giant sign proclaiming their intentions – ROCK – roughly 14 extra guitars on display, and Lang nearly soils himself on the very first note.
That’s nothing though compared to this interview the Black Angels did with Joe Walker, one of the three geriatric music critics behind Woodshop Productions’ Breakfast at Sulimay’s series. Asked if the session counted towards community service, Alex Mass responded: “Well yeah, I guess so. He was great, such a sweet guy.
