As glimpsed in the new video for “Innocence,” Tomar Williams stokes a fire in listeners. When two strangers at his show exchange glances, everyone else disappears and they spend the evening engaged in steamy, visceral dancing – at least inside their minds.

The latest Tomar & the FCs single finds Williams landing the hook, “I fell in love with your innocence/ Don’t know what happened to you ever since.” The song advances the locals’ long-awaited sophomore full-length, Rise Above, which is slated for release on Houston’s Splice Records early next year. As related in Kahron Spearman’s exquisite 2018 cover story, the rising funk and R&B quintet remains the culmination of an epic, familial life in music for Williams.

The clip for “Innocence,” directed by Chris Thompson and starring dancers Hailley Lauren and Clay Moore, finds T&TFCs laying it down at Eastside landmark the White Horse. That’s exactly where they’ll be tomorrow, Saturday, for the “Innocence” release party. The FC’s take the stage at midnight after Dave Insley’s Careless Smokers and JD Clark.
