Bring Beer

(12XU)

Adding to local Matador Records maestro Gerard Cosloy’s two Casual Victim Pile platters, this 15-song tribute to Austin’s Trailer Space Records scene blasts out of the proverbial garage with a hoodlum’s abandon. Packing true grit from some of the local underground’s finest, that includes: perennial favorites the Golden Boys, which pluralizes new LP Dirty Fingernails‘ “Sidewalk” with revved-up redux; hardcore heat missiles Naw Dude’s double-dose speed burst “Ghost Boner” and “Letters Home”; and a solo spin-off from Strange Boys bassist Philip Sambol, who flips BB‘s noise punk with a slow burn on “Everybody Moves You.” Elsewhere, Carolee brings the drone on “Spiral Start,” Marriage and Followed by Static tag team their rolling thrash, and sludge puppies Air Traffic Controllers take punks inside Trailer Space live with “You’re a Lousy Caregiver.” Remember to Bring Beer, and plenty of it.
